Christmas Card Surprise

There are times when a video is necessary to appreciate the dynamics of a card. This is one of those times. Today, I am showcasing a masculine Christmas card I made for my daughter's boyfriend. As the name suggests, there is a surprise waiting inside this card!

I wanted the front of the card to resemble a wrapped Christmas present. I chose this beautiful black and gold foil cardstock I purchased from Michaels.  For the mat, I used a burgundy cardstock. The base cardstock is also black.

The Merry Christmas is a Cricut Access element and the perfect touch for this simple layout.

For the surprise inside the card, I used the Karen Burniston photo collage pop-up die. As complicated as this card may seem, this die makes it easy. Also, I added a few more photographs around the perimeter of the pop-up.

The burgundy background paper on the inside of the card was created with the Christmas Berry Branch embossing folder.

Of course, the card would not have been possible if my daughter had not shared with me the adorable collection of selfies she took of her and her boyfriend over this past year. Aren't they cute? Although dating can present some challenges in a COVID world, they don't let that stop them. They have still managed to discover adventure. From long hikes to flying through the air, they are always finding ways to safely navigate these difficult times and have fun.

I can't believe this is the last card of 2020! Wow, let's hope that 2021 brings about a positive change and a bright new beginning.

I'll see you next week. Until then, I wish you all a happy & safe New Year's.
